Breaking a Dachshund's Bad Habits

Conditioning a dachshund to lose bad habits is not the easiest task to overcome. But, it's all in the timing. All dachshund owners should not expect to bring a dachshund home and not have to train it. Dachshunds are verisimilar to people. They have personalities that may compel them to act in a particular way. Consequently, patience coalesced with kind firm discipline is necessary for teaching and old or new dachshund new tricks.

The phalne is essentially the same thing as a papillon, except that it has dropped spaniel-like ears. within the first couple of months after birth the ears will either lay flat or raise up permanently. The AKC considers the Phalne and the Papillon to be the same breed.

Use these tips, tricks and strategies to discourage unacceptable behavior:

The doberman pinscher breed was created in the 1860's by a man named Louis Doberman. Mr. Doberman was a German tax-collector. He needed a dog to protect him from angry people while he worked. To this day, dobermans are excellent guard dogs.

1) When your dachshund behaves or commits an intolerable act, give him or her a deep, short growl. The growl is effective because it emulates the canine's mother. Just as the pup's mother would confront the dachshund face to face with the growl, you should do the growl in your puppy's face to discourage the unwanted behavior.

The Podengo, a rare breed of dog, is also known as the Portuguese Warren Hound. It is usually a fawn or yellow color, but can be brown, black or sooty colored without white patches or spots. It resembled a long-bodied chihuahua.

2) If your puppy or new dachshund continues the behavior, repeat the growl. However, the second one should be a little louder but not any longer than the first growl.

The Schipperke, or "little captain", is generally thought of as being solid black in the USA. However, they do actually come in other colors. The reason they are commonly thought to only be black, is that the black variety is the only type currently recognized by the AKC.

3) In cases where your dachshund continues to behave poorly, snap at the canine in the fashion a dachshund. In other words a short bursting growl followed by a snapping of your teeth.

Schipperke is Flemmish for "little captain" and the name is appropriate because most schipperkes seem to act almost human. they are happy, intelligent and usually enjoy being the center of the universe around them.

Amongst DOG trainers, the emulation of DOGS is the subject of great controversy. Most dachshunds will not outgrow poor behavior without the guidance of rules. Many trainers consider it a negative form of discipline to act like a canine to enforce discipline. However, other DOG advocates consider it an effective way to demonstrate authority without raising one's voice.

Many toy fox terriers used to be used commonly in circus shows by clowns. They are said to make great companions for owners with a good sense of humor. They seem to anticipate their master's every thought and mood.

Other trainers recommend discouraging poor behavior by giving a dachshund a sniff. Since it demonstrates that the owner is the elder or alpha, it can catch your dachshund or puppy off guard and make them aware that is the subordinate.

The Lowchen, a small, somewhat rare breed of dog, is native to France. It's called "petit chien lion" or, "little lion dog". This is due to its fur growth, as it resembles the mane of a lion.
