Can My Dachshund Get Sick in a DOG Kennel?

While it is entirely possible for any dachshund to get sick at any time, whether in a kennel or not, there are many ways to reduce the risk of your dachshund developing an illness during his or her stay at a kennel.

Franklin D. Roosevelt once spent $15,000 to have a destroyer return to the Aleutian Islands and retrieve his Scottish terrier, Fala, who had been accidentally left behind. Fala is now part of the Roosevelt Memorial in Washington, D.C.

Kennel Cough (Canine Infectious Tracheobronchitis) is one of the most common illnesses among kennel DOGS. A good kennel will insist that all DOGS are vaccinated for kennel cough. Unfortunately, Kennel Cough can be caused by multiple organisms, so vaccination isnt always totally effective.

While most dogs shed, poodles are actually incapable of shedding. That fact makes them excellent house pets, since they don't get the furniture covered in fur. Also, due to the nature of their fur and the fact that they do not shed, most people with dog allergies aren't allergic to poodles.

One way to reduce your dachshunds risk of Kennel Cough, as well as other diseases, is to make sure that you supply the kennel with your dachshunds own personal items. There is a bigger chance of transferring diseases when the DOGS share personal items. If you supply the kennel with your dachshunds own personal gear, such as food and water bowls, food itself, toys or bedding, it will serve a dual purpose. It will lower the risk of the dachshund getting sick and it will also help the dachshund to be more comfortable and stay closer to his daily routine.

Basset hounds have incredibly long ears. In fact, the dog with the largest ears in the world is a Basset Hound. His name is Mr. Jeffries. The dog's ears are 11.5 inches long, and are insured.

By choosing a kennel that insists on vaccinations, supplying the kennel with your dachshunds personal items and ensuring that the kennel is clean and well ventilated, you can greatly reduce the risk of your dachshund getting sick during his stay.

The first breeding Weimaraners were imported to the US in 1938 by Howard Knight, a dog fancier from Rhode Island. In 1942, The Weimaraner Club of America was formed and the breed standard was created.

For a little added peace of mind, you could select a kennel that has staff on hand 24 hours a day and access to an emergency vet.

If you want your dog to win Westminster then you may want to get a Fox Terrier. Why? The winningest dog in Westminster history is Ch. Warren Remedy, a Fox Terrier, who won best In show in 1907, 1908 and 1909.

While freak accidents can happen, following these steps should help to ensure that your dachshunds kennel stay is both healthy and happy.

The Papillon is a small dog breed with distinctive large, fringed ears that earned it its name, the French word for butterfly. The Papillon is believed to be one of the oldest of the toy breeds.

The phalne is essentially the same thing as a papillon, except that it has dropped spaniel-like ears. within the first couple of months after birth the ears will either lay flat or raise up permanently. The AKC considers the Phalne and the Papillon to be the same breed.

German shepherd dogs are great working dogs. They are often used as police dogs, rescue dogs and guides for the blind. In fact, one of them, a guide dog named Orient, once led a blind hiker the entire 2100 mile length of the Appalachian Trail.
