Is It Ok To Put My Dachshund in a Kennel While On Vacation?

The choice to kennel your dachshund when your family goes on vacation depends greatly on both the individual dachshund and the kennels available in your area.

The Dalmatian is the only breed of dog that gets gout. Gout is an arthritic condition that causes inflammation of the joints. Gout is usually a human condition, but, for some reason, our dalmation friends get it too. This is commonly thought to be due to inbreeding.

If you are planning to kennel your dachshund, consider the dachshunds personality. If your dachshund does not get along with other DOGS or cats then the kennel may be a bad choice. You may want to have someone come to your house to watch your dachshund instead.

While adult dalmations are covered in cute black spots, dalmation puppies are actually born solid white. Their spots don't show up until they are at least a week old. Sometimes not until they are a month old.

If you do choose to kennel your dachshund, you should be sure that the dachshund knows how to sit on command. That will help the kennel staff, especially during meal time. You should also inform the kennel staff about any behavioral quirks that your dachshund may have. Remember that kennel staff will not know your dachshund like you do. What seems normal to you might be unexpected to them.

Chinese Crested dogs are often considered to be so ugly that they are cute. They often win ugly dog contests. They are odd looking, mostly hairless dogs. They are also the only breed of dog that is capable of getting acne.

Once you determine whether your dachshunds personality is suitable for a kennel, the next thing to do is to find an appropriate kennel. This process should be started long before you leave for vacation. It is not a decision to make lightly.

St. bernards have a well-deserved reputation as rescue dogs. In fact, the most successful mountain rescue dog ever was a st. bernard. His name was Barry. He lived during the early 1800's, during which time he saved 40 lives.

Tour each kennel that you are considering. A good kennel should be fairly clean. However, its nearly impossible to keep any kennel completely clean at all times. Also, the staff should be friendly and well informed. A good kennel should offer medical care if your dachshund gets sick or injured on their watch. They should also require that all animals are up to date on their shots.

Basset hounds are fabulous at hunting and they make wonderful companion dogs. However, even with those great qualities, basset hounds are horrible swimmers! Their legs are simply too small to keep their heavy, long bodies afloat properly.

Some kennels have more features than others, so, beyond these simple basics, the choice of which kennel to bring your dachshund to is mostly a matter of personal preference. The best advice, when choosing a kennel, is to follow your instincts.

German Shepherds have incredibly sensitive noses. They have over 225 million cell receptors in their noses, making them ideal for police work, such as bomb and drug sniffing, finding missing children and tracking criminals.
