Should I Take My Dachshund to Obedience Classes?

Whether or not you should take your dachshund to an obedience class depends greatly on you and on your dachshund. Before you decide, there are a few things you should know.

Most adult Borzoi (russian wolfhounds) are almost mute. They bark only very rarely. They are gentle, sensitive dogs with gracious house-manners and a natural respect for humans. Their quiet nature makes them an ideal pet for families with children.

First, there are many differences between a dachshund obedience class instructor and a dachshund trainer. A dachshund trainer is a person who is trained to teach your dachshund to do certain specific things in a one-on-one situation. An obedience class instructor, on the other hand, is a person who specializes in teaching you how to better train your own dachshund to do whatever you want it to do.

The Japanese Chin, also known as the Japanese Spaniel, is considered to be one of the most cat-like of the dog breeds when it comes to attitude. It is alert, intelligent, and often independent. Also, like a cat, it uses its paws to wash its face.

Another important thing that you should keep in mind about dachshund obedience class is that there will be several DOGS and owners there. You and your dachshund will get an opportunity to socialize and learn from others. However, you will not get as much one-on-one attention as you would if a dachshund trainer came to your home.

Chinese Crested dogs are often considered to be so ugly that they are cute. They often win ugly dog contests. They are odd looking, mostly hairless dogs. They are also the only breed of dog that is capable of getting acne.

If you do decide to take your dachshund to obedience classes, be sure to do some research first. There are a few things to consider. You'll want to find a class that is held on days and times that fit your schedule, first of all. Also, you may want to find a class that is specifically for dachshunds that are the same size or age as yours. A small dachshund might not benefit from a class where the other DOGS are larger, just as a large DOG may not benefit from a class full of small DOGS.

Bloodhounds have dewlaps. What are dewlaps? They are strange looking, pendulous folds of skin on the back of the neck. They don't seem to serve any useful purpose to the bloodhound, but are rather interesting to look at.

When you think you've found a class, meet with the instructor. Don't be afraid to ask questions and, if possible, observe a class or two before enrolling. You may also want to ask the instructor if your entire family is welcome in the class. If space permits, most good instructors will not only agree to that, they'll usually recommend it.

West highland white terriers began their history as the undesirable white offspring of the dark-colored cairn terrier. With the dog's popularity today, it is hard to believe that the early westies were usually drowned or shot.

By following these simple steps, you should be able to find an obedience class that both you and your dachshund can benefit from and enjoy.

Rhodesian ridgebacks have an actual ridge along the top of their backs. The ridge is made up of forward-growing hairs. This ridge gives the rhodesian ridgeback a unique and easily recognizable look.
