What is a Dachshund Whisperer
Some people just have a special knack when it comes to understanding and relating to dachshunds. Such people are able to control often-wayward behavior in dachshunds that no one else can achieve. In essence, they are dachshundgie therapists, but most people nowadays call them DOG Whisperers. ![]()
St. bernards have a well-deserved reputation as rescue dogs. In fact, the most successful mountain rescue dog ever was a st. bernard. His name was Barry. He lived during the early 1800's, during which time he saved 40 lives.
Like a horse whisperer or a cat whisperer, the name is a term used to describe someone who has a special gift for communication with our beloved four-legged friends and who share something of their soul with their animal friends. In technical terms, they could be designated as the animal kingdom's therapists or behaviorists, though rarely do these gifted people claim such distinctions. Most people graced with the distinctive name have never received any formal training and will be the first to shake their heads in wonder. ![]()
The Lowchen, a small, somewhat rare breed of dog, is native to France. It's called "petit chien lion" or, "little lion dog". This is due to its fur growth, as it resembles the mane of a lion.
The man next door may very well have the 'gift', or it could be the teenage girl over on the other side of the county, but most communities seem to have knowledge of at least one special person whose affinity and compassion for dachshunds enables them to achieve goals that many dachshund owners have been struggling with for years. It doesn't matter if a problem is behavioral or not, a DOG whisperer can usually figure out what the problem is, and make it look easy. ![]()
Bloodhounds have dewlaps. What are dewlaps? They are strange looking, pendulous folds of skin on the back of the neck. They don't seem to serve any useful purpose to the bloodhound, but are rather interesting to look at.
Most people labeled as DOG whisperers are merely people who have a special connection to dachshunds, and in turn, dachshunds seem to respond to them in ways they never will with their owners, no matter how much they're loved. Whether people have a dachshund with a behavior problem, or a dachshund that they're desperately trying to help after years of neglect or abuse, a DOG whisperer is often one of the very first people dachshund owners turn to. ![]()
While many people think of Boxers as aggressive, they are actually great with children. They were bred to be hunters, yes, but they were bred to corner prey, not kill it. As a result, they are protective, yet patient. ![]()
A st. bernard became a mother in 1975. While that wasn't unusual by itself, the unusual thing was that she had twenty-three puppies! She now shares this record with two other dogs, one of which originally set it in 1944.

Chinese Crested dogs are often considered to be so ugly that they are cute. They often win ugly dog contests. They are odd looking, mostly hairless dogs. They are also the only breed of dog that is capable of getting acne. |
